100 Debates on the Environment October 2019
November 18 @ 08:00 - 17:00
In partnership with the Bow Valley Naturalists, Bow Valley Climate Action, and Bow Valley Clean Air Society, Canmore Commons hosted a political forum for federal candidates focused entirely on the environment. This was 1 of over 100 other Debates held across Canada leading up to the 2019 federal election.
100 Debates is a solution-oriented, non-partisan forum for Canadians who want to see our political leaders work together to build a safe and healthy environmental future. 100 non-partisan all-candidates debates on the environment took place across the country on October 3rd, putting candidates face-to-face with thousands of voters across Canada who want to see bold, urgent action on the environment.
All candidates were invited, however only Austin Mullins (Green Party), Anne Wilson (New Democrat Party), and Nadine Wellwood (Peoples Party of Canada) attended. Ruth Midgley (Liberal Party) and Blake Richards (Progressive Conservative Party) did not attend. Several questions were prepared by the organisers (BVCA, BVN, BVCAS, and Canmore Commons) and sent to the candidates before hand. At the debate, audience members were invited to write questions on a scrap of paper, and audience questions were then collected, selected, and read by members of the Canmore Collegiate High School Green Team.
